Trimble Expands Construction Layout Solutions with Two New Robotic Total Stations

New Total Stations Allow Concrete and General Contractors to Take Control of their Layout

Dayton, Ohio (July 10, 2007) -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) today announced the Trimble® SPS710 and SPS610 Robotic Total Stations for construction layout applications. Used with the Trimble LM80 Layout Manager, the new Trimble SPS710 and SPS610 Robotic Total Stations are designed to allow concrete and general contractors to take control of their construction layout requirements for commercial and residential building construction.

The announcement was made at Trimble’s Construction Boot Camp 2007, a field-based, hands-on training event for the construction industry.

Using the new Trimble SPS710 or SPS610 Robotic Total Stations, contractors are expected to perform layout tasks more efficiently than with conventional mechanical systems to increase their productivity. The Trimble SPS710 and SPS610 Robotic Total Stations are designed to offer construction-specific functionality allowing general and concrete contractors to perform all jobsite layout and measurement tasks. An easy-to-follow user interface designed for contractors is intended to shorten the learning curve and speed operation.

These high-accuracy total stations are designed to offer fast, one-person layout capabilities for all layout applications, dramatically reducing layout time and operating costs. With two robotic total station models to choose from, contractors have the flexibility to select the product to best suit their construction layout needs, whether the need is for a higher accuracy robotic total station for anchor bolt layout, or one best suited for smaller residential projects. Trimble SPS710 and SPS610 Robotic Total Stations are built to withstand tough jobsite conditions, minimizing downtime due to repair.

Trimble Construction Positioning Solutions are designed to allow contractors to carry, manage, work with and lay out the jobsite blueprint used in a variety of commercial and residential applications, including:

  • Layout control points on or offset to construction lines
  • Check or tie into property boundaries
  • Layout excavation lines
  • Layout of concrete forms and anchor bolts
  • As-built checks
  • Layout control lines on concrete pad for subcontractor use
  • Light topographical measurements for cut/fill balance

The new Trimble SPS710 and SPS610 Robotic Total Stations are expected to be available at the end of July 2007 through Trimble’s worldwide Construction dealer channel.
