CFA Announces Regional Conference in Raleigh, NC

Mt. Vernon, Iowa (April 1, 2007) -- The Concrete Foundations Association (CFA) – a North American association dedicated to improving the quality and acceptance of cast-in-place concrete foundations – will gather for an educational venue in Raleigh, N.C. on April 27-28 at the Embassy Suites – Raleigh, located at 4700 Creedmoor Road.

The two-day event begins on Friday, April 27 with a full-day education session offered for building inspectors and code officials. One of the industry’s premier concrete educators – Brent Anderson (who is accredited through the N.C. State Board of Examiners) – will conduct the 8-hour seminar that covers the many details of design and construction of foundations with cast-in-place concrete. The CFA Board of Directors will meet Friday morning.

On Saturday, April 28 two education tracks are offered for contractors – Foundation Fundamentals II, also led by Brent Anderson, and a management track consisting of the facts and myths of above-grade housing as well as the latest detailed information on the ACI 332 Residential Concrete Standard. These seminars are designed to help contractors improve their business through worker education and understanding opportunities. During the lunch break, attendees will be treated to the latest information on many of the manufactured products available through CFA National Suppliers that have sponsored the event. This Q&A session is designed to be interactive to further stimulate ideas of improving technology and application.

The cost of the seminar is $175 for CFA individual members and $150 for additional attendees within the company. The non-member price is $200 for individuals and $175 for additional registrants. Group discounts are available for groups of five or more by contacting the CFA and lunch is provided. About the CFA
The CFA was established in 1974 for the purpose of improving the quality and acceptance of cast-in-place concrete foundations. Since that time, the CFA has transitioned to a network where foundation contractors can focus on building better businesses and improving the recognition of performance in codes and standards. CFA provides promotional materials, educational seminars, opportunities for networking, and technical meetings for members throughout the U.S. and Canada involved in segment of the market now identified as Removable Concrete Forms (RCFs), walls produced by forming, placing concrete and then removing the forms of wood, aluminum or steel-ply. The CFA represents the interests of its members and the industry on several code and regulatory bodies, such as ACI 332 – the American Concrete Institute’s committee responsible for the creation of the "Residential Concrete Standard" and the International Residential Code (IRC) as well as concentrated efforts with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Portland Cement Association (PCA). The CFA produces industry shaping documents including the CFA Standard for Residential Poured Foundations and the CFA Cold Weather Research Report.
