MAR-FLEX Introduces Vortex™, the Telescopic Vent for Basement and Crawl Space Moisture Protection
Middletown, Ohio (August 7, 2006) -- The problem with residential foundation walls is that they come in many different sizes. Some are 5, 6 or 7 inches thick. Others are 8, 9 or 10 inches. That’s why Mar-flex Waterproofing and Basement Products today launched Vortex, the first-of-its-kind variable flow, telescopic basement and crawl space vent.
The adjustable Vortex comes in two sizes. One size expands from 4.75 inches to 7 inches to fit 5, 6 and 7-inch walls. The other size adjusts from 7.5 inches to 10 inches to fit 8, 9 and 10-inch walls. Vortex’s innovative telescoping feature offers a significant inventory reduction opportunity for distributors of poured wall and masonry products. The distributor can stock just two Vortex vents and relieve the headache that goes with carrying the many space-consuming, non-adjustable vents needed to match customers’ varying size requirements.

Vortex vents also offer advantages to poured wall contractors. The expanding and contracting Vortex eliminates the constant need to order size-specific vents, and saves the time that frequently is lost when distributors don’t have the appropriate vents in stock.
Vortex vents are available in three models. Vortex Thin Manual allows users to manually alter airflow using easy-to-access controls. It adjusts from 4.75 inches to 7 inches and fits 5, 6 and 7-inch walls. Vortex Manual features the same easy-to-access controls for airflow adjustment. It expands from 7.5 inches to 10 inches and fits 8, 9 and 10-inch walls. The Vortex Automatic model automatically regulates airflow based on environmental humidity. It adjusts from 7.5 inches to 10 inches and fits 8, 9 and 10-inch walls.
Vortex vents are constructed of high-density polyethylene, so they won’t rust. A key feature is the solid steel turnbuckle that gives Vortex vents the versatility to expand to fit the various sizes of walls.
