1999 World of Concrete Sets New Record

The World of Concrete, one of the the largest annual construction shows in the U.S., which ran from January 19-22 in Las Vegas Nevada, experienced a 20% increase in attendance over the previous record of 52,000 set in 1997. Total attendance for the show was 62,000. The number of exhibiting companies also grew from 1,100 in 1998 to 1,300 in 1999 and seminar attendance grew from 20,900 registrants to 23,900. Veteran and first time exhibitors alike were very pleased with show attendance and lead generation.

The focus of the show has always been concrete, an element common to almost all construction. This emphasis will continue. Show Vice President, Chuck Simanek said, however, that the recent merger between The Aberdeen Group into Hanley-Wood, Inc., of Washington, D.C. will bring about an increased presence for the residential contractor in future shows.

Attendance at the CFA Winter meeting held at the All Star Café on the Strip was also attended by a record number of members and guests.
