The Concrete Foundations Association initiated an award in 1997 that honors an individual or company that exemplifies the ideals, goals, and standards of the association. Joe Carr of Custom Concrete in Indianapolis, Indiana was the first recipient of the award.
This year, Gary Bromley of ABI Corp. (formerly Action Basements, Inc.) in Lee’s Summit, Missouri was awarded the honor. Gary is the founder and president of ABI Corporation. He has an exemplary career of public service including service on the board of directors of the Lee’s Summit Education Foundations; board of directors of Lee’s Summit Home Builders Association; and the board of directors of the Concrete Foundations Association. He served as president of CFA in 1995-96.
Gary is the past president of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce; secretary/treasurer of the Lee’s Summit Hospital Executive Board;, and Treasurer of the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Executive Board.
In his spare time, Gary pours over 500 basements per year and is a parent to 4 children, two of which (Dan & Mike) work with ABI Corporation. ABI does excavations and waterproofing in addition to foundation construction and employs approximately 50 people. They employ many of the latest technologies including the Autocrete program and Geodimeter layout system.
