Significant Footing Details:
These footings have nearly 17 tons of reinforcing steel – needed to support 12’ to 18’ x 12” walls that in turn would support the upper poured concrete deck and three floors above that.
Outstanding Features:
The walls had nearly 31tons of reinforcing steel w/ (2) 25’ long poured staircases – a 360 degree radius wall to support a circular staircase to the upper levels.
Project Complexities:
This project had very poor access for as big as it was. It took three pours for the footings (2 with pumps & 1 without) and 3 pours for the walls – all with the use of a concrete pump.
Project Description:
This was the biggest, private, residence I have ever been involved in with this company. By the time this house is finished it will probably have its own zip code. It is just shy of 200 feet from side to side and 110 feet from the back stairs to the front porch.
6,390 square feet occupy the space inside these dimensions. The three garages total 3,116 square feet and from the back garage to the front garage measures over 150 feet across a 3-sided courtyard. If the sheer size of this project isn’t daunting enough, this foundation is dug into a hillside that drops 25 feet from front to back & is surrounded by dense woods.
I found out early on that if you decided to spend much time on or around this jobsite, you better have comfortable hiking boots. It was treacherous when raining & lightening (remember, lots of trees) and was not an easy flat lot as you can tell by the elevated photos.
This wasn’t just a job – it was an adventure. Ask anyone that was involved.
