Significant Footing Details:
80+ footing pads, ranging from 36” x 36” up to 132” x 120” x 12” (double-mat w/ #5 bar each way). Footing sizes ranged 18” x 12” to 48” x 24” (5 - #5 rebar). First footing dig was 21’ below grade, so all materials had to be craned into the location.
Outstanding Features:
The section of 27’ tall wall was a single-pour of pre-tied, double-faced, #6 & #7 rebar @ 6” o.c., Using three stacked 9’ aluminum forms. The project contained multiple radiuses, 140+ corners, and contained 2 major elevation changes of 15- and 16 -vertical.ft. One area contained a stairway to angle wall connection requiring two inside corners back-to-back.
What technology did you use:
We used Auto-Cad, an in-house custom rebar-takeoff program, and a Trimble Geodimeter 5500 Total Station with C.U. Data Collector. It took nearly 25 trips to the jobsite to layout the 370+ points for the footing and foundation.
Describe the project:
The project is located on top of a mountain above Bountiful, Utah, east of the Great Salt Lake. Due to extreme weather conditions, the entire footing and foundation had to be completed in the summer months. As soon as excavation was completed in the early Spring our Crews were onsite.
The size of the project required 3 major mobilizations. The first involved the high walls for the trophy room and the butcher shop. The second involved high walls for the racquetball court at a completely different elevation. The third and final mobilization involved the Cabana and Poolhouseat another separate elevation.
In all, the entire footing and foundation was completed in seven separate pours.
