Ed Sauter has been the Executive Director of the Tilt-Up Concrete Association and Concrete Foundations
Association since 1992. Under his direction, the TCA has grown from 160 members to over 460
during the past 12 years with members in 42 states and 15 countries while the CFA has enjoyed the
growth from just over 200 members to over 450 members with members in 30 states and four Canadian
provinces.
Prior to taking over these associations, Mr. Sauter was CEO of a manufacturer of insulated sandwich wall
systems for Tilt-Up and precast construction and a practicing architect.
Ed’s experience with tilt-up is as an architect and speaker. He has made numerous presentations on
finishes, energy efficiency, and markets for tilt-up construction. He has authored several articles on
Tilt-Up and energy efficient construction.
Ed received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Iowa State University in 1972 and is a registered and
NCARB certified architect. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute and is secretary and past
chair of ACI Committee 650: Tilt-Up Constructor Certification as well as past chair of the ACI Committee
332: Residential Construction. Sauter is also a member of ACI Committee 551: Tilt-Up Construction.
